Tis the season for hot comfort food! My mother is an excellent cook and she taught all of her daughters her secrets to delicious home-cooked recipes that are budget-friendly and so satisfying. Everyone should know how to cook something this good. I’ve been told that home-ec lessons are sorely lacking in today’s educational system. I’m glad to share what I’ve learned from my mother.
This dish, Chicken and Red Gravy, is a household favorite here. It's the perfect slow-cooked dish to warm up your whole house and give your family something to come home to that will make them feel loved.
I like using a Dutch Oven for this on the stovetop. There's something about my cast iron Dutch Oven that I think does the best job for this dish but if you want to try an instant pot or a slow cooker, go ahead, or use any pot with a lid. For an instant pot, I would suggest cooking for at least 30 minutes because you want that chicken falling off the bone. (But I can’t vouch for the IP method because I haven’t tried it. I like the Dutch Oven.)
